The term “panel materials” includes various products that are produced by separating pieces of wood and subsequently joining them together, in most cases under pressure and with the addition of other materials (synthetic resins, mineral binding agents and other additives) that improve the mechanical properties of the material.
The main advantages of panel materials compared to solid wood are a particularly homogeneous structure and more stable behaviour, the availability of larger dimensions and a greater utilization of the raw material itself. The use of panel materials in the furniture industry has expanded, primarily due to the ease of installation and the lower price compared to solid wood.
